So finally, Google has officially announced that they will release their own OS. Not unexpected, but none the less very interesting.
The OS will be running on everything from notebooks to stationary desktops, equipped with X86 or ARM architechture, according to Google's official blog [1] and will be released as open source during late 2009. With Google Chrome OS a new windowing system will be developed, adapted for those who live on the web. This is where it gets really interesting. There has been a shift during the last years from the desktop to the web. How Google will integrate the web with the desktop is probably the most interesting part of their OS and the effect that will have on its competitors.
In the blog one can read about that Google will focus on the user experience and want it to be dead simple to use. I've heard it before and I believe when I see it.
Anyway, I will definitely try Google Chrome OS out when it arrives.
